Error: A fatal exception 07 has ... (indexing Find Fast due to file problem).
Error:
A fatal exception 07 has occurred at 0028:C10210BC. The current application will be terminated.
Cause:
There is a problem with one of the files that Find Fast is indexing. Find Fast periodically indexes files on the computer to speed up the document find process.
Solution:
Move FindFast to the Startup folder and edit the Shortcut properties. Remove /noui and add /v to the target box.
1) Make sure Find Fast is located in the Startup folder.
a) Right-click on the 'Start' button.
b) Select 'Explore' from the Shortcut menu. (Explorer opens up.)
c) Click on 'Programs' in the 'Start Menu' folder in the left-hand Explorer window.
d) Click on the 'Startup' folder.
2) If Find Fast is not in the Startup folder, move Find Fast into the Startup folder:
a) Locate and select the 'Find Fast' icon in the left-hand Explorer window.
b) Select 'Cut' from the 'Edit' menu.
c) Click on the 'Startup' folder in the 'Programs' folder.

d) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste' to paste Find Fast in the Startup folder.
3) Right-click on the 'Find Fast' icon to display a Shortcut menu.
4) Select 'Properties'.
5) Click the 'Shortcut' tab.
6) Edit the 'Target' box:
a) Remove the '/noui' after C\MSOffice\Office\FINDFAST.EXE
b) Add the following to this line:/v
NOTE: Removing the /noui switch allows viewing of the Find Fast dialog box when it is running. The /v switch allows a detailed output in the log file.
7) Restart Windows:
a) Shut down Windows.
b) Press and hold SHIFT while Windows is restarting. (This action prevents programs in the Startup Group from starting.)
8) Repeat step 1) above to locate Find Fast in the Startup Folder.
9) Double-click on the Find Fast icon to begin creating indexes. (This action will again cause Find Fast to crash.)
10) Open 'WordPad'.
11) Select 'Open from the 'File' menu.
12) Open the file 'Ffastlog.txt in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
13) Locate the error (usually at the end of the file). (Either a filename or an error is listed which describes the cause of the problem.)
14) Find the file and copy the file to a diskette.
15) Delete the file from the hard drive after it has been copied to a diskette.
16) Repeat steps 7) to 15) above until Find Fast no longer crashes. (Copy all corrupted files onto a diskette and delete from the hard drive.)
17) Edit the 'Find Fast' program in the 'Startup' folder by repeating step 6).
a) Remove the /v switch from the 'Target' box.
b) Add the /noui switch.
18) Shut down and restart Windows WITHOUT pressing SHIFT.
NOTE: The corrupted files saved to diskette should be reopened in their original application and saved to a new format or filename.
